Night View

Recently, the night view of Japan has become more beautiful than before. The view seen from a low position is especially beautiful. The night view of the city in winter, in particular, becomes even more beautiful as Christmas approaches and the illuminations shine brightly. Neon signs used to be the illumination of the city, but now LEDs are the mainstream. However, I think that the waterside is particularly beautiful as a night view. When light is reflected on water, it becomes twice as bright, and when the water surface is ruffled by the wind, it becomes three times brighter due to diffuse reflection. Yokohama’s Minato Mirai area, where many skyscrapers stand along the canal near the sea, is where you can see the illumination of the city and the glittering water surface all at once. From a distance, the ropeway gondola looks like a jeweled necklace, and the lights of the promenade that runs along the canal look like rhinestones adorning a dress. Illuminations are said to have their origins in Christmas markets that originated in Germany in the 16th century. Japanese people treat things that originated overseas as their own and enjoy them with various ingenuity. One of the joys of Christmas time is walking in bright lights of different colors. On cold nights, I drink a little mulled wine and enjoy the city of light
